A home for the Arabic novel, written and read chapter by chapter.

A serialized-fiction community for Arab writers and readers: writers publish chapter by chapter, readers follow and comment on the web or in the app.

Arabook — website

The challenge

Arabic readers mostly meet fiction through translation, and Arab writers have few places built for publishing a story as it grows. Arabook needed to feel like a home for Arabic writing from the first screen, on a phone or a laptop.

What it does

  • Novels published chapter by chapter
  • Reading progress kept across web and app
  • Follows, comments and a feed of new chapters
  • Daily rankings by category
  • Editorial console for moderation

Built with: Laravel, Next.js, React, Flutter

Our approach

  1. 01

Built the reading experience around the chapter: writers publish part by part, readers pick up where they stopped on any device.

  2. 02

Designed an Arabic-first, right-to-left interface with a reading typeface chosen for long sessions.

  3. 03

Shipped one API behind a website, iOS and Android apps, and an admin console for moderation and editorial work.

  4. 04

Added the parts that keep a community moving: follows, a feed of new chapters and writer announcements, comments, and daily rankings by category.

Inside the product

The work, screen by screen.

The home page on mobile: start reading, or publish your own novel.

The outcome

Arabook is built across web, iOS, Android, and an editorial console, and opens to readers soon at arabook.app: writers publish serialized novels, readers follow them and comment, and editors run moderation and rankings from their own console.
